Lead advanced composites centre in Europe
Help us establish a new European engineering and production capability for high‑performance composite structures, while driving R&D and delivering innovative products and services to customers across the region.
The role
We’re hiring a Senior Engineer to found and scale a Swiss‑based engineering unit focused on advanced composites. You’ll lead facility stand‑up, guide research and productization, and build a small, high‑calibre team. The remit spans process development, digital modelling, prototype to low‑volume production, supplier partnerships, and technical customer engagements. Expect a hands‑on mix of technical leadership and pragmatic operations.
Title: Senior Engineer
Reporting to: Chairman, Wills Wing
Location: Switzerland (on‑site with regional travel)
What you’ll do
- Establish a small R&D and production capability for high‑tech composites, from layout and equipment selection to safe operating procedures and quality gates
- Lead research and development for new and existing composite components and assemblies, from concept to fielded product
- Own digital modelling and analysis workflows: CAD, FEA, laminate definition, tolerancing, and tool design
- Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes: layup, curing, machining, bonding, finishing, and inspection
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team, set goals and rituals, and run projects with clear scope, schedule, budget, and risk management
- Partner with suppliers and labs on materials, testing, certification, and special processes
- Translate customer requirements into designs, prototypes, validations, and production releases for European customers
- Define and track engineering KPIs: yield, CTQ metrics, cycle time, cost, reliability, and safety
- Collaborate across leadership on roadmap, make‑buy choices, and technology bets without disclosing confidential strategy
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline with strong composites focus
- 8+ years in advanced composites across design, analysis, process development, and production introduction
- Demonstrated experience standing up new capabilities, labs, or pilot lines and taking designs to production
- Strong CAD and analysis skills: surface/solid modelling, assemblies, FEA for composite laminates, joints, and buckling
- Practical know‑how with prepreg, vacuum bagging, autoclave or OOA curing, RTM/infusion, and secondary bonding
